What they work on
- Deploy advanced cyberinfrastructure linking Allegheny College, Harrisburg University of Science and Technology and West Chester University to the PA Science regional research network for high-performance data transmission and sharing.
- Connect the three campuses to regional and national AI, high-performance computing (HPC) and storage resources, including the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center's ADAPT program.
- Build working relationships between researchers and campus cyberinfrastructure professionals, and pilot new CI technologies while developing the CI workforce and planning for sustainability.
- Create cross-state research and education collaborations and a reusable template for extending research networking to other under-resourced institutions in the region.
More about the research
Small colleges often lack this connection, so their researchers and students cannot fully use shared regional and national computing resources.
Why it matters
Faculty and students at small, under-resourced colleges could gain the network capacity needed to use AI tools, supercomputing and large-scale storage, letting them take part in data-intensive research in fields from astronomy to cybersecurity. The effort could also give other Pennsylvania institutions a reusable model for campus connectivity and help grow the workforce that builds and maintains research computing systems.
Known grants
From NIH and NSF research grants. Labs often have other funding we can't see.
