Turning lab discoveries into better cancer diagnosis and treatment often depends on measuring many genes and proteins at once, sometimes in single cells or in specific spots within a tissue. These measurements need specialized instruments and expertise that individual labs rarely have.

- Grants
- 1 known grant, through Mar 2029
What they work on
- Provide reliable, cost-effective next-generation sequencing library preparation, including bulk RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq and methylation sequencing, for cancer center investigators.
- Consult on and run high-dimensional profiling experiments, including single-cell and single-nucleus RNA-seq, Multiome, NanoString nCounter and GeoMx spatial profiling of RNA and protein in tissue.
- Offer quantitative multiplex immunofluorescence and histology to map proteins in tumor tissue sections.
- Develop new methods, train researchers, and help with data analysis and interpretation for studies and clinical-trial correlative science.
More about the research
This grant supports the Translational Science Laboratory (TSL) at the Hollings Cancer Center. TSL is a shared facility that provides these tools to cancer researchers. It aims to help move basic findings toward the clinic, and clinical observations back to the lab.
Why it matters
High-quality single-cell, spatial and sequencing data can help cancer researchers find biomarkers and test ideas that may improve diagnosis and treatment for cancer patients. By offering these tools and expert analysis as a shared service, the facility lets many investigators run studies they could not run alone. This includes correlative studies built into clinical trials.
Known grants
From NIH and NSF research grants. Labs often have other funding we can't see.
