What they work on
- Establish institutional policies and structures that let primarily undergraduate and emerging research universities form external technology partnerships efficiently and professionally.
- Provide professional development so faculty and staff are better equipped to take part in and contribute to technology partnerships with outside organizations.
- Identify, document and share strategies and lessons learned for managing and growing partnerships over time, through publications, workshops and a toolkit for other institutions.
More about the research
While the benefits of partnering are well documented, little is known about how primarily undergraduate and emerging research institutions can build a broad set of technical partnerships. This collaborative project, Building Institutional Capacity for External Partnerships (BICEP), brings together four such universities to work out how.
Why it matters
Practical strategies and a shared toolkit could help primarily undergraduate and emerging research universities form more and better partnerships with industry and other organizations. Stronger partnerships could expand faculty research opportunities, use-inspired research and workforce programs. They could also bring more underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students into STEM opportunities and support regional economies.
Known grants
From NIH and NSF research grants. Labs often have other funding we can't see.
