Endometrial cancer, a cancer of the lining of the uterus, needs new treatment and prevention strategies. Early ideas, however, often lack funding to get off the ground.
- Fields
Medicine & Clinical Research
- Topics
endometrial cancer
uterine cancer
gynecologic oncology
- Grants
- 1 known grant, through Jul 2028
What they work on
- Fund up to three one- to two-year pilot projects each year in basic, translational, clinical, epidemiologic and prevention research on endometrial cancer across the three Route 66 SPORE institutions.
- Review proposals through a committee of scientists, a biostatistician and a patient advocate, and monitor funded pilots to decide which should advance to full SPORE projects.
- Increase the number of investigators working on endometrial cancer by helping new investigators obtain preliminary data and outside funding, and by drawing in established scientists from other fields.
More about the research
This PI directs the Developmental Research Program (DRP) of the Route 66 Endometrial Cancer SPORE (Specialized Program of Research Excellence). The SPORE is a partnership of Washington University in St. Louis, the University of New Mexico and the University of Oklahoma.
Why it matters
By funding and nurturing early ideas, the program aims to grow pilot studies into projects that could lead to new treatment or prevention strategies for endometrial cancer. It also aims to build the number of researchers committed to this cancer, which could benefit patients over the long term.
Known grants
From NIH and NSF research grants. Labs often have other funding we can't see.
