Demand for people trained in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) is growing fast, but many undergraduates lack access to strong AI courses at their own schools. This collaborative project, led with Cornell Tech and Hofstra University, aims to widen that access.

What they work on
- Scale up the nine-week ML Foundations course of the Break Through Tech AI Program by recruiting five new Instructional Hubs at partner institutions.
- Prepare hub faculty and graduate students to teach machine learning through a 'Train the Trainer' program and deliver live lab sessions on industry-relevant skills.
- Evaluate how well distributed Instructional Hubs expand undergraduate access to AI education, aiming to serve 1,500 students per year.
More about the research
It will scale up the ML Foundations course of the existing Break Through Tech AI Program.
Why it matters
Many undergraduates have no access to hands-on AI and machine learning training. A tested, scalable model for sharing instruction through partner hubs could let more colleges offer such courses. It could prepare far more students for AI careers, and data on the hubs' effectiveness could guide other schools adopting the approach.
Known grants
From NIH and NSF research grants. Labs often have other funding we can't see.
